Liverpool made it six wins from six in a comfortable afternoon at Anfield today.

Goals from Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah after Wesley Hoedt turned the ball into his own net means Liverpool have made their best ever start to the season.

They sit top of the table, two points above Manchester City, but there was some concern midway through the second half against Southampton when Van Dijk went off injured.

The Dutch international could be seen clutching his rib cage as he walked off the pitch.

And Klopp revealed Van Dijk in fact suffered the injury prior to the Paris Saint-Germain game earlier this week.

However, the Liverpool boss doesn’t think it will keep the centre-back out of action for too long.

“Okay when I asked him when he came off,” Klopp said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He has a bruise on his rib.

“It’s uncomfortable but I don’t think it’s much more but we have to see.

Klopp added: “He had already before the PSG game a bruise in his ribs which is uncomfortable.

“Not cool, not too serious. He said he could not shout anymore. Should be ok.”
