TRAINER Gerald Ryan, who has winning chances at Royal Randwick and Doomben on Saturday, has revealed stable star and $13 million The Everest favourite Trapeze Artist is due to return to work on Monday.

“Trapeze Artist has done so well in the paddock I want to get him back into pre-training,’’ Ryan said of his triple Group 1 winner.

“He’s already in The Everest so I can concentrate on getting him right for that race but I need to get Menari back racing earlier and hopefully pick up a slot.’’

Ryan said Menari returned to pre-training earlier this week and he hopes to have the sprinter ready to resume early in the new season for either the Missile Stakes or the Concorde Stakes to impress slot-holders ahead of The Everest at Royal Randwick on October 13.

Trapeze Artist was snapped up by Aquis Farm for The Everest after his win in the TJ Smith Stakes and All Aged Stakes during autumn. In Her Time (TAB) and Redzel (Yulong Investments) are the other confirmed Everest runners.

Everest slot-holders The Star Entertainment Group, which is increasing its involvement in horse racing and on Friday announced a three-year agreement as naming rights partner of the internationally celebrated Magic Millions Carnival and raceday, will be among those interested in how Menari comes up early in the new season.

The Star may want to align themselves with trainer Gerald Ryan who is having a career-best season with his stable earnings already more than $6.1 million.

Ryan’s main chances on Saturday include Samantha in the Man Shake Handicap (1100m) and Mollyfied in the McCarthy Homes Handicap (1200m) at Randwick, while stable stalwart Red Excitement contest the Group 3 $125,000 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1630m).

“Samantha is nice and fresh, she has good form at 1100m, and she is only a little, light mare so I didn’t think there was a need to send her to the barrier trials,’’ Ryan said.

“Mollyfied has also come up really well. She raced competitively in some tough races last time in and she has strengthened up during her break. Red Excitement ran a super race at Scone (second to Osborne Bulls) and he has settled in nicely in Brisbane.’’

Meanwhile, The Star Entertainment Group, which includes casinos in Sydney and Gold Coast, confirmed its powerhouse partnership with Magic Millions will start in January.

“Magic Millions is a major drawcard on the national events calendar,” said The Star’s managing director Matt Bekier said. “Every year it attracts an influential and high-profile mix of public, social and business identities from around Australia and across the globe.

“As an event that matters to the Gold Coast, we see our support for Magic Millions as an ideal alignment. We both aim to deliver thrilling experiences.’’
