ANOTHER strong auction result in Hamlyn Heights has reinforced its reputation as one of Geelong’s best performing suburbs.

A four-bedroom house at 39 Heather St sold for more than $50,000 above reserve under the hammer on Saturday.

A Melbourne couple with a young baby paid $688,000 for the renovated house with two living areas.

Prime, Geelong agent Gina Popowicz said four or five bidders were in competition for the property.

She said the new owners, who were originally from Adelaide, planned to settle and raise their family in Geelong.

“They liked the fact that they don’t have to do anything there, they are a young professional couple so they’re very busy and they have a little bub,” Mrs Popowicz said.

“And the location — they are close to everything.”

The house has a mix of formal and informal living areas, with a modern kitchen, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Hamlyn Heights has recorded 18 per cent capital growth in the past 12 months, making it one of the region’s strongest performing locations.

The median house price now sits at $507,500.
