Manchester United appear set to cut Pogba loose with the France international primed to be shown the door.

Reports have claimed Mourinho has run out of patience with the 25-year-old, who has been either benched or substituted in seven of his last 11 appearances.

Paul Pogba cost United a then world-record fee of £89million when he returned to Old Trafford from Serie A giants Juventus nearly two years ago.

And the Daily Mail say Woodward is opposed to Mourinho’s plans to let the player go.

United’s high-profile transfers have not worked out under Woodward’s rule.

The CEO, who succeeded David Gill in the position back in 2013, has invested big to bring the likes of Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Pogba and Alexis Sanchez to the club during his five-year tenure.

However, none of the deals have worked out.

Di Maria was sold to PSG just 12 months after United shelled out £60m to sign him from Real Madrid.

Falcao, meanwhile, cost the Red Devils £6m for a one-year loan deal but found the net just four times before returning to Monaco, his reputation in tatters.

Sanchez is still feeling his way into his United career but, with just two goals to his name, has failed to meet expectations.

And the Daily Mail say Woodward is desperate for the Pogba deal to work out.

However, should Mourinho get his way, the Frenchman will be strutting his stuff elsewhere next term.

PSG appear favourites to sign the player.

And Real Madrid are also in the mix for his signature, though Florentino Perez is yet to ever buy a Mino Raiola client.
