Pogba has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho in recent weeks and rumours have surfaced about tensions building between the pair.

He was dropped for Manchester United‘s second leg defeat against Sevilla, coming on for the final 30 minutes.

And his form has suffered with his last Premier League goal coming in November.

He didn’t feature in the 2-1 win over Liverpool due to a reported minor injury and is currently on international duty with France.

Didier Deschamps’ side take on Colombia today (8pm) before facing Russia on Tuesday (4.50pm).

And Pogba’s France team-mate Lloris has backed the midfielder to get back to his best sooner rather than later.

“Paul stays a strong player in our team, he is one of our leaders,” said Lloris.

“This season is a little bit complicated but he was injured so that could explain why he was not consistent all the time.

“But he already proved with Manchester or France that he is one of the best players in the world if he is at 100 per cent. Now he is more mature.

“He knows his place, his responsibilities. I have no doubt that he will be ready for this huge competition and show his best side.”
