The clubs had reportedly agreed a swap deal, that would see Ivan Rakitic and Jean-Clair Todibo moving to Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent deal, as well as Ousmane Dembele heading to the Parcs des Princes on loan, and a substantial transfer fee.
In return, Barcelona would receive Neymar, who is desperate to leave PSG this summer.
Dembele had been deciding whether or not to leave the Nou Camp, and Guillem Balague has now revealed that the France international is open to the move.
The only thing that’s left to iron out is the terms on Dembele’s switch to PSG.
Barcelona don’t want the loan to have an obligation-to-buy, while the Parisians haven’t decided on their stance just yet.
“Todibo and Rakitic are willing to be part of the deal for Neymar,” said Balague.
“I made some calls, and I confirm that in principle, yes, they will be both moving.
“Of course, there still has to be a number of legal details that still have to be sorted, because it’s a complex deal. But, it’s also needed for another player; Dembele.
“For the first time, I’ve been told that Dembele is willing to go on loan to PSG.
“Now they need to find out in which terms he wants to go, what the wages will be, and also, what will be the cost of the loan, and whether it will have an obligation[-to-buy], or not.
“Barcelona don’t want that. I wonder what PSG will be trying to get into the deal.”
In order for the transfer to go ahead, Barcelona have to create some space in their wage bill.
The sale of Rakitic will go a long way to helping the deal to go through, Balague added.
The Catalans are also expected to pay a huge transfer fee for Neymar, on top of the players being exchanged.
The transfer fee could rise to £118million (€130m), depending on PSG’s demands.
