Liverpool go into the summer off the back of a hugely promising season which was rounded off by a Champions League final appearance against Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp will be eager to bolster his squad as they look to challenge on four fronts over the course of the 2018/18 campaign.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are facing a summer of change with Antonio Conte set to depart following their fifth-place finish and an overhaul of his squad to come.

The latest reports from Portugal indicate Liverpool and Chelsea are both in the market for a left-back as they address their needs.

According to Correio da Manha, Liverpool and Chelsea have shown a keen interest in Telles since the January transfer window.

And they are joined in singling out the 25-year-old by newly-promoted Wolves, who are managed by former Porto boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Porto are desperate to keep hold of Telles, with the Brazilian playing a key role as they beat Benfica to the title this season.

But they will be powerless to resist if his relatively modest £35m (€40m) release clause is activated over the summer.

Porto seem to be preparing for the worst and they have apparently lined up Talleres’ Lucas Olaza to replace Telles.

Benfica are also in for Olaza, which means Porto could face double the heartache if Telles leaves the Estadio do Dragao.

Liverpool’s discovery of how much Telles will cost comes after they were quoted £61m by Roma for goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Tancredi Palmeri.

“In February, Liverpool’s €50m [£44m] assault was dismissed: if Roma sells, it will only be breaking through the record for the highest paid goalkeeper in history, still held by [Gianluigi] Buffon since 2001,” said Tancredi. “The assessment [valuation] is €70m [£61m].

“The point is that Liverpool aside, none of the top clubs right now really need a great goalkeeper (in Paris they should settle for Gigione [Buffon]).

“Provided that [Thibaut] Courtois or [David] De Gea do not move, maybe [he could go in the] direction [of] Madrid.

“And well, at that point, Rome, which after a lot of money has not really needed [to sell], but it would be difficult to refuse to enter the Guinness Book of Records on the side of the cashier.”

Liverpool are seeking to strengthen in attack too, with Lyon captain Nabil Fekir one of their top targets.
