Dembele joined the Spanish giants in a staggering £135.5m deal from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the 21-year-old has struggled to find his feet at the Nou Camp and Liverpool are prepared to smash their transfer record again to bring Dembele to Anfield.

The Sun claim Jurgen Klopp’s side are ready to spend £85m on Dembele’s services in the January transfer window.

However, many Liverpool fans are not sold on the potential transfer and would rather the club targeted a creative midfielder.

“We need midfielders who can dribble and make that killing passes to the front three,” one fan wrote.

Another said: “We need a creative midfielder.”

“Go for FEKIR & RABIOT,” a third fan wrote.

Liverpool have been previously linked with Dembele considering Klopp managed the youngster during his time at Dortmund.

And rumours of a potential move have surfaced just days after Dembele was dropped from Barcelona’s matchday squad to face Real Betis last weekend after he missed training with a “stomach bug”.

Meanwhile, France boss Didier Deschamps has also revealed Dembele has a habit of turning up late for training.

But Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko has defended the young forward and insists his client wants to remain with Barcelona.

“He is 21 and is playing for Barcelona,” Sissoko told RMC Sport.

“He has six goals and two assists, I don’t understand his critics.

“We are aware that he has to improve, that’s clear.

“He is 21 and it’s normal. Ousmane will keep working hard.”
