Khan continues his comeback to boxing on Saturday night when he fights Samuel Vargas in Birmingham.

If the Bolton star comes through the bout, a clash with Brook is seemingly on the cards in the near future.

And David Haye, speaking on talkSPORT on Friday, says Khan facing Brook would be the “perfect fight” between two boxers with similar careers.

“I think it’s a fantastic all-British fight,” Haye said.

“It’s the perfect fight for both fighters and it’s the perfect fight for the British fans.

“They are both past their very best, but they’re also in the same boat.

“They have both won world championships, but they both took the leap up to middleweight and Kell Brook was stopped by Triple-G (Gennady Golovkin) and Amir Khan was stopped by Canelo Alvarez.

“Their careers are very similar.

“They dislike each other immensely and they’re both brilliant world-class fighters.

“I would love to see this fight.”

Brook is keen to fight Khan but admits time is running out to do so.

“I think we’re running out of time now, I think this is more or less his last chance to get it on with me,” Brook told talkSPORT.

“I’d love to take the fight at the end of this year.

“That’s what the world wants to see, Brook v Khan.

“I actually went in the ring for his last fight and he ran out of the ring when I got in.

“All I want to do is make this fight happen for all the fans.”
